Hardwood Floors: The Moisture Rule

Excess moisture is hardwood’s biggest enemy. Never use a soaking wet mop. Use a lightly dampened mop or a purpose-made hardwood floor cleaner. Avoid steam mops entirely on solid or engineered wood.

Tile and Grout: Acid vs Alkaline Cleaners

Ceramic and porcelain tiles handle most cleaners well, but grout is porous and absorbs stains. A pH-neutral cleaner for regular maintenance, and a diluted bleach or oxygen-based cleaner for monthly grout whitening.

Laminate: No Soaking, Ever

Laminate looks like wood but behaves very differently. Water seeping into the seams causes the boards to warp and swell. Use a dry or barely-damp microfibre mop and clean up spills immediately.

Vinyl and LVT: The Easiest to Maintain

Luxury vinyl tile is the most forgiving floor type. It handles moisture well and resists scratches. A regular pH-neutral cleaner and microfibre mop is all it takes to keep it looking new.
