Why Your Mattress Needs Regular Cleaning

The average person spends over 2,500 hours a year in bed. Without regular care, mattresses accumulate sweat, dead skin cells, and dust mites — triggering allergies and affecting sleep quality.

Step 1: Strip and Wash All Bedding

Remove and wash all sheets, pillowcases, and duvet covers on the hottest setting the fabric allows. This kills dust mites and bacteria that have built up over time.

Step 2: Vacuum the Mattress

Using the upholstery attachment, vacuum the entire surface of the mattress including the sides. Pay extra attention to seams and crevices where dust mites accumulate.

Step 3: Treat Stains with Enzyme Cleaner

For stains from sweat or accidents, apply a small amount of enzyme-based cleaner, work in gently with a cloth, and allow to fully dry before remaking the bed. Never soak your mattress.

Step 4: Deodorise with Baking Soda

Sprinkle baking soda over the entire mattress surface and leave for at least 2 hours (overnight is better). Vacuum away thoroughly. This neutralises odours without chemicals.
