White Vinegar: The Multipurpose Acid
Diluted white vinegar (1 part vinegar to 1 part water) cuts through grease, dissolves soap scum, and leaves glass streak-free. Use it on glass, tiles, and stainless steel. Never use on natural stone or cast iron.
Baking Soda: The Gentle Abrasive
Baking soda is mildly abrasive and odour-neutralising. Mix it with a small amount of water to form a paste for scrubbing sinks, tubs, and oven interiors. Sprinkle dry into carpets, drains, and bins to absorb odours.
Castile Soap: Safe for Everything
A few drops of castile soap in warm water creates an effective all-purpose surface cleaner. It’s plant-derived, biodegradable, and safe on skin. Use it diluted for floors, countertops, and even washing up.
What Natural Cleaners Can’t Do
Natural cleaners work brilliantly for maintenance cleaning. For heavy limescale, serious mould, or sanitising after illness, you may still need conventional products. The goal is to reduce reliance on harsh chemicals — not eliminate all options.
